Everybody stands by Silvio Berlusconi?

Sat, 23 March, 2013 (Saint Toribio Alfonso de Mogrovejo). Apparently Silvio Berlusconi organised a package tour to Rome including show-off of unpresentable candidates, attacks to old enemies and a (unscheduled) strip tease.

“Tutti con Silvio per una nuova Italia” (“Everybody with Silvio, for a new Italy”) was the title of the gathering of the People of Liberty in the Square of the People in Rome, drawn on Twitter as #ConSilvio. Difficult to find a better setting. Though it's unclear how a new Italy could result from somebody who ruled the country for 10 out of the last 20 years, having been its prime minister four times. Anyhow.

Everybody with Silvio, for a new Italy
Everybody loves Silvio
About 50,000 people showed up in the demonstration, according to Mr Berlusconi's opponents many of them where young pensioners (about 60-year-old, the typical target of
Silvio's party, many of them women), to whom the PdL granted the travel means and offered a 10-euro fee, in order to grab a sandwich and a drink.

Quite a few topics were on the menu, starting from the old chestnut about the Italian judiciary, which – we know – is full of communists and it might me more dangerous than the Sicilian Mafia (according to the ex-premier of Italy).

Other “themes” of the jolly gathering were a new refrain about “being unpresentable”, a term used by Huffington Post Italia's director in her TV show “In Mezz'Ora” – Italian for “In Half an Hour”, the umpteenth attack to Mario Monti (becoming global, after being accused of being “beholden of the Germans” now he is even “supine in his dealings with the Indians”, since his government sent back to India two Italian Navy's marines accused of murdering two Indian fishermen) and the stripping of a young blonde woman – who ended up half naked - protesting in favour of “Life and stem cells” (actually an unscheduled happening, the organising committee denied any responsibility, however Silvio might have liked it. Here you can find a photo about it (we do not show any nudity on our blog), if a pair of boobs don't make your hair curl.

Oh well, there was also a call for preparation for electoral campaign (when the old “Forza Italia” party may appear again), since the government Pier Luigi Bersani is trying to form is «living on borrowed time», according to Silvio, and the PdL's supporters are the majority of the country (according to Silvio). Here we go again?
