Saturday, 14 September 2002. Silvio Berlusconi is in Camp David, officially visiting the USA. The Italian politician makes a speech in English and US President George W Bush gets quite impressed by his knowledge of foreign languages.
After a year from the 9/11 terrible attacks upon New York City and the Pentagon, Italy's prime minister Silvio Berlusconi travelled to the United States of America in order to meet up with president George W Bush.
Who's the guy on the left? Tony Soprano or Silvio Berlusconi? |
The main reason of the visit was to thoroughly discuss steps to be taken regarding the war on terrorism, the (apparently) related situation in Iraq and how to handle the whole thing at the United Nations.
Paying the visit to George Walker Bush (apparently a fellow comedian, who was not on duty that day, and behave seriously) at Camp David, the Italian Silvio Berlusconi decides to give a demonstration of his proficiency in Shakespeare's language, by making a short and inspired speech (intitled “I add one more thing”) over the Stars Spangled Banner, just after having reached the country retreat with a helicopter and danced in front of the guard of honour, as an intro. Funny Berlusconi! And, by the way, don't you think he looks a bit like James Gandolfini? I mean a miniature James Gandolfini...
Dancing with the Sailors (Cher couldn't have done it better than that!) |
Though the US President congratulates with Italian friend (“His English is very good,” will comment) for such a good knowledge of the language, for some reasons, Silvio Berlusconi seemed to have given up making speeches in English, after the performance.
Why is that?
Why is that?
